To create a work order through the Service Requests (SR) window, follows these steps:
- Open the Service Requests window.
- Right-click in the window and select Insert. The system displays a dialog box. The left side of this dialog box lists the attributes needed to create a work order (project template, asset type, activity, and inventory element). The right side of the dialog box lists what can be chosen for the attribute selected on the left. Note that the attributes are hierarchical. That is, what you select for the first attribute determines what can be selected for the second attribute and so on.
- For the first attribute, on the right side of the dialog box, click the appropriate choice for the attribute. Your selection appears in the field above the list of choices.
- Click Next. The next attribute is selected. Also note that the selection for the previous attribute is now shown on the left side of the dialog box.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the remaining attributes.
- Once you have made the selections for all attributes, click OK. The dialog box closes and the new work order is shown in the table.
- In the row showing the new work order, enter information in the columns if you know this information. Note that you must enter the amount of work to be done based on the activity unit in the Plan Amount column to create the work order.
- Click . The work order is now created, but pending. When you are ready to issue the work order and start work, you must activate the work order as instructed in Activate a Work Order.
