  • For Point asset types, typically the Inventory window provides only one tab. This one tab lists all assets (inventory items) that are in inventory. Each inventory item record includes various attributes about the item, such as location, features, classification, location, and characteristics, etc.
  • For Linear asset types, typically the Inventory window provides two tabs: an Inventory tab and a Location tab.

The Inventory tab lists all inventory items in the asset inventory and provides basic information about each inventory item, such as attributes, classification, and characteristics. The Location tab lists the location of the inventory item selected in the Inventory tab. Since a linear asset can have breaks between the start and end mile point, you can enter multiple locations for an inventory item. For example,

can be located along Interstate I-64 between mile points 10 – 20, 25 – 30, and 35 – 40. This results in three location records in the Location tab. Each of these locations may have location-specific attributes (such as median width and/or shoulder width). Those attributes that vary by location are typically displayed in the Locations tab.
