Each asset type has its own Inventory window. The layout of the Inventory window depends on whether the asset type is Linear or Point:

  • For Point asset types, typically the Inventory window provides only one tab. This one tab lists all assets (inventory items) that are in inventory. Each inventory item record includes various attributes about the item, such as location, features, classification, location, characteristics, etc.
  • For Linear asset types, typically the Inventory window provides two tabs: an Inventory tab and a Location tab

The Inventory tab lists all inventory items in the asset inventory and provides basic information about each inventory item, such as attributes, classification, and characteristics. The Location tab lists the location of the inventory item selected in the Inventory tab. Since a linear asset can have breaks between the start and end mile point, you can enter multiple locations for an inventory item.

The objective of this lesson is for the participant to understand how to access to the Section Inventory window and review road sections data.

At the end of this lesson, the user should be able to successfully log into the system, open the Section Inventory window and review Sections inventory records.

In this example, we open the Section Inventory window and review  few records by following the steps below:

1.Open the Maintenance Manager Section Inventory window: Maintenance Manager > Asset Inventory > Sections > Section Inventory.

2. In the Section Inventory (upper) pane, click on the record of interest to review the data. The Section Location map (bottom) pane refreshes and zooms in on the (blue) highlighted selected section route.

3. Alternatively, when you click on a route in the Section Location map (bottom) pane, the system will refresh, highlights the route (with the color blue) and displays the related information of the selected route in the Section Inventory (upper) pane.
