Performance Guidelines define the typical resource (labor, equipment, and material) requirements and costs associated with maintenance activities. A column is also provided for contractor costs if the activity is typically performed by an outside firm. They are set during project implementation, but can be edited at any time. They are used as default information when preparing work orders. They provide estimated costs and duration for resources for an activity. These guidelines can then be used later to compare actual performance with estimated performance for each activity. You can also use them to estimate resource requirements for budgeting.
Since each administrative unit may not have detailed guidelines for specific activities, the highest-level administrative unit (for example, the central office of your maintenance organization) initially defines a Performance Guideline for each activity. The guideline can then be inherited and edited by each administrative unit. This allows upper management to define Performance Guidelines that can be edited to match local experience when required.
