There are two ways to show the location of an asset: either by its geometry or by its Linear Reference System (LRS). See Location Reference Field for more information.
Location Editing
- Offset from: Represents distance from the beginning point of a reference route to the beginning point of a feature.
- Offset to: Represents distance from the beginning point of a reference route to the end point of a feature. A positive offset value offsets a feature to the right and a negative value offsets the feature to the left.
- Perpendicular offset: Perpendicular offset shows how far a location is to the left or right of a linear feature. When facing the direction of increasing mile points, the positive perpendicular offset is on the right and negative perpendicular offset on the left from the centerline.
Editing LRS Location of an asset in the Inventory window
You can update any inventory asset that has a location by editing its LRS location in the Inventory Window. If the asset has an entry in the LOC_IDENT column the location can be edited.
To edit the location of an asset:
- Open the inventory window that contains the asset.
- For a point feature, edit any of the four LRS fields - Offset From, Offset To, Perp Offset, and associated route if allowed. For a linear feature, you can edit Offset From or Offset To.
- Save the changes. The system updates its records in the GEOM column of the database table.
