The Work Request window shows requests that have been recorded for fixing perceived deficiencies of the road network. Typically, these requests are generated by the public, although other users of the road network can also report items that need attention.
For example, a person calls your agency and reports a dead deer or a large pothole. Personnel at the agency would then record the details of the call (who called and where the problem is located), and then would route the report to the administrative unit that is responsible for addressing the report.
The work flow for work requests is then as follows:
- An agency employee records the details of the report in the Work Requests window.
- The employee then assigns the request to the responsible administrative unit.
- An employee in the assigned administrative unit investigates the request and either associates it with an already-existing request or issues a work order to address the issues of the request.
- The work order is completed, and the person who initially made the report is notified that the problem is resolved only if the contact person requested a follow up call.
When you right-click a work request, the system displays a shortcut menu. This shortcut menu contains the common commands and the following special commands:
- Link to Another: When the work request you right-clicked is not associated with any other work requests, this command is available. It allows you to link the selected work request with another work request to consolidate effort in a particular area. When you select this command, the application displays a data selection window to select the criteria for what other work requests may be candidates for linking.
- Remove Link: When a work request is linked with another work request, this command can be used to sever the link.
