To collect the NBI rating of a structure's components, you tap NBI RATINGS under bridge forms.
Depending on the type of structure being inspected, the NBI Ratings screen will populate with the appropriate components. For example: For a bridge inspection, the Deck, Superstructure, Substructure, and Channel components are displayed for rating according to the NBI specifications.
Each component can be ranked from 0 to 9 with an additional N rating on some components which can be used to indicate non-applicability for the structure. For exampled: For a culvert, the Culvert and Channel components are displayed for rating according to the NBI specification, from 0 to 9 and an additional N rating for channel as you can see in the screenshots below.
When a rating is selected for each component, a description of that rating from FHWA's Recording and Coding Guide is displayed to provide guidance to inspectors in making a rating decision. When done with the rating for one component, simply tap on the next component to display and record a rating for it.
