Every window in the system is made up of components called objects. These objects can be different types such as:

The properties of each of these window objects (such as their position, their data source, or whether they are editable or not) can be edited by users with a special Admin level security setting. If a user has this access, they can switch on a special mode called Update Window Using Design Mode in a window. Once this mode is switched on, you can access a right-click action called Change Control Properties. This opens the User Control Properties dialog box.

The User Control Properties dialog box lists all editable objects in the Window Objects pane on the left side of the dialog box. By default, the object selected is the object that you right-clicked to launch the User Control Properties dialog (even this is made up of component objects - in this case a Tree View on the left, and various Data Window objects on the right, which are in turn contained in a Tab object). Depending on the type of object selected in this list on the left, different tabs (and fields within the tab) are displayed on the right.

Note

Note: Any changes made in the User Control Properties dialog box are automatically captured as configuration scripts and stored in the SYSTEM_CONFIG_SCRIPT table. This occurs regardless of whether the Record Config. Scripts? check box in the Window Properties tab of the User Control Properties dialog box is selected or the Record Config. Scripts? check box in the Tables tab of the Tables window is selected.
